Soapy Taste or Residue on Your Silicone Lunchbox

Soapy Taste or Residue on Your Silicone Lunchbox

You might notice that over time your silicone lunchboxes start to taste a bit soapy or have white marks on them. Don’t worry this is quite normal and I have an easy fix.

Make a paste of bicarb and vinegar and scrub that in well then leave for an hour before washing off in hot water.

Silicone won’t actually absorb any particles from food or detergent but they can leave an oily or soapy residue on the surface which is what you are seeing or tasting.

Washing your lunchboxes or any silicone products with this scrub every few weeks will remove this.

To prevent this from happening, you can also use a fragrance free eco detergent to wash them in.
